Other Names

Pines North Trail, Pines Trail, Lincoln National Forest, Sacramento District, Cloudcroft, Sacramento Mountains

Last Known StatusOpen

This part of the Lincoln National Forest has a seasonal campground that offers direct access to several miles of motorized trails. ATVs are permitted on the Pines Trail, which is only about one mile long. Motorcycles are permitted on the Pines North Trail, which is roughly two miles long but connects to additional forest service roads.

A popular hiking trail is available which offers scenic views of the Mexican Canyon Trestle and Tularosa Basin. To locate the trailhead just follow the ATV trail west about a half mile.

The Pines Campground offers 24 sites and can accommodate trailers up to 40’ long. Each site comes with a picnic table and fire ring. Drinking water is available but there is a small fee charged after using the first five gallons.

While not a major destination for ATVs, this would be a good camping spot for those bringing dual sport motorcyles.
