Located in the Sproul State Forest, ATV enthusiasts will find miles of trails that consist of old coal-mining roads that wind through deep forest vegetation. Trails are mostly hard-packed with a few creek crossings. Deer, black bear and wild turkey are among the wildlife that inhabits the area. Overnight camping is permitted however a permit is required and can be obtained by contacting the <a href="http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/stateforests/sproul.aspx" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Sproul State Forest.</a> The origin of the name "Bloody Skillet" is uncertain however it may have originated when a local farm in the area used to serve as a slaughterhouse back when the forest was mined for coal. <a href="http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/atv/d10_ATV_BloodySkillet.pdf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Detailed Trail Map.</a>
