BLM Seeks Public Comment For Three Potential Routes

ELY, Nev. - The Bureau of Land Management, Ely District, Bristlecone Field Office is asking the public to review and provide comments on a preliminary environmental assessment (EA) that analyzes the designation of a signed trail system in White Pine County, consisting of existing roads and trails open to all uses. The 60-day public comment period concludes Tuesday, June 4, 2019.

The White Pine County Silver State Trail Preliminary EA analyzes three potential routes. Alternative A provides for the highest level of public safety while minimizing resource concerns. Alternative A designates 197 miles of existing routes starting just north of the Lincoln County line and ending at the Elko County line. It provides for a connection with the City of Ely and offers extended recreational opportunities. The BLM is preparing the EA at the request of the White Pine County Commission.
