Tarryall Reservoir

Tuesday, February 27, 2024

Other Names

North Tarryall Peak, Topaz Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain, Pike National Forest, South Park Ranger District, Lost Creek Wilderness, Mud Hill, Mud Gulch, Baker Mountain, Farnum Peak

Last Known StatusOpen

This section of the Pike National Forest has miles of smooth and fast trails. The area might be best explored by street legal vehicles since there is no designated staging area or trailhead and some county roads must be used to access the various motorized trails.

There are three designated campgrounds on the shores of Tarryall Reservoir plus numerous dispersed primitive campsites once you get on the actual trails. The area is heavily patrolled by park rangers and the county sherriff. Basic camping supplies, groceries and gasoline can be found at nearby Jefferson Market.
