Hatfield Mccoy Trail System

Last Known StatusOpen

Located in southern West Virginia, this part of the Hatfield McCoy Trail System has about 300 miles of trails that also connect to nearby Rockhouse and Buffalo Mountain. All trails are marked, rated and form multiple long loops with plenty of scenic overlooks.

The trails are mostly hard packed and feature a variety of terrain that ranges from novice friendly to rugged and technical. The nearby towns are ATV friendly, which allows riders to get gas and food.

The main staging area is located in the town of Matewan, which has a fully staffed welcome center with trail maps, permits, brochures and merchandise.

Overnight parking is not permitted at the staging area but there are several campgrounds that provide direct trail access. Nearby Devil Anse ATV Resort and Devil's Backbone Adventure Resort provide riders with direct trail access to Rockhouse, Buffalo Mountain and Devil Anse. Call for rates and availability.
