This 45-mile long linear trail consists of very rocky, rugged and sometimes steep terrain with several creek crossings. The trail is marked with orage and blue blazes. This trail is also close to the Boardstand Millitary Trail but note there is no direct access unless street legal.

Camping with direct trail access can be found at Tailmena State Park or at Billy Creek Campground. Those with large trailers or RVs may want to consider parking at Tailmena State Park while Billy Creek Campground caters to those who want to tent camp with limited amenities.

1) Take I-40 east to exit 308
2) Turn right (south) off the exit ramp onto US-59, continue 20 miles
3) Turn right (south) on US-59/US-271, continue about 62 miles
4) Look for sign on the left for Talimena State Park, turn here.

For Billy Creek Campground:
5) Continue south past Talimena State Park 3.3 miles
6) Turn left (south) onto Cutoff Road, continue 2 miles
7) Turn left (east) onto Hwy 63, continue about 16 miles
8) Turn left (north-east) onto County Road 223/E1620, continue .2 miles
9) Turn left (north) onto FS Road 6022, continue about 2 miles toward campground entrance.
